Privacy Policy

Introduction

This Privacy Policy explains how Vastrails (“we”, “us”, “our”) collects, uses, stores, and shares information when you use our website (the “Site”). It applies to travelers all around the world.

By using the Site you acknowledge this policy. If you do not agree, please discontinue use of the Site.

Who we are

Vastrails publishes destination research and travel planning content. Our Site runs on self-hosted WordPress (not Shopify). We may use reputable third-party services that process data on our behalf — for example embedded tools or hosting infrastructure — as described below.

Contact: info@vastrails.com

Information we collect

Information you provide directly

Depending on how you interact with the Site, you may choose to give us:

  • Your email address or other details if you contact us or subscribe (if we offer those features).
  • Any information you include in messages you send to us.

Information collected automatically

When you browse the Site, we and our technology partners may automatically receive technical and usage data, such as:

  • IP address and approximate location derived from it
  • Browser type, device type, and operating system
  • Pages viewed, referring URLs, and timestamps
  • Cookies and similar technologies (see Cookies below)

Site features that may process limited personal data

Some parts of the Site use server-side or front-end features that log interaction data to help us improve content and tools. Where implemented, this may include, for example:

  • Article feedback — which article you responded to, your choice (e.g. helpful / not helpful), and a one-way hash of your IP address (not the raw IP), together with a timestamp.
  • Trip calculator usage — non-medical trip planning inputs you submit (such as departure country, trip length, traveler count, accommodation preference, destination selections) and estimated ranges, with a session identifier and timestamp for analytics.

We do not use these features to sell your personal data. We use them to understand what content and tools are useful and to improve the Site.

How we use your information

We use the information above to:

  • Operate, maintain, and secure the Site
  • Provide articles, tools, and requested communications
  • Measure performance, fix errors, and improve user experience
  • Comply with law and respond to lawful requests
  • Protect our rights, users, and the public

Cookies and similar technologies

WordPress and our theme may set cookies that are necessary for basic Site operation (for example security, session management, or preferences). We may also use analytics or embedded content that sets its own cookies.

You can control cookies through your browser settings. Blocking some cookies may limit certain features.

Embedded content and third-party services

Articles or tools may include embedded content (for example maps, videos, or flight search widgets). Those providers may collect data about you according to their own policies when you interact with their embeds. We encourage you to read their privacy notices.

Our parent theme and plugins (for example Kadence and other WordPress extensions) may load assets or connect to third parties as part of normal WordPress operation.

How we share information

We may share information with:

  • Service providers who help us host, secure, email, or analyze the Site, under contracts that require appropriate protection
  • Authorities when required by law or to protect safety and rights
  • Business transfers in connection with a merger, acquisition, or asset sale (with notice where required)

We do not sell your personal information in the conventional sense of “selling” for money. If we ever use advertising technology that constitutes a “sale” or “sharing” under U.S. state laws, we will provide a clear opt-out where required.

Public areas and user content

If we enable comments, forums, or other public features, information you post there may be visible to others. Do not post sensitive personal data in public areas.

Children

The Site is not directed at children under 16. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us data, contact us at info@vastrails.com and we will take appropriate steps.

Security and retention

We implement reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect information. No online service is completely secure.

We retain information only as long as needed for the purposes above, unless a longer period is required by law. Log and feedback data may be kept in aggregated or pseudonymous form for analytics.

Your rights (EEA, UK, and similar jurisdictions)

If applicable law grants you rights over your personal data, you may be able to:

  • Access, correct, or delete certain data
  • Restrict or object to certain processing
  • Data portability (where technically feasible)
  • Withdraw consent where processing is consent-based
  • Lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority

To exercise these rights, email info@vastrails.com. We may need to verify your request.

Image copyright and use

Photos published in our articles are protected by copyright. Article images display a visible VASTRAILS watermark. See our Terms and Conditions for permitted use, technical protection measures, and enforcement.

Screenshots and screen recording cannot be fully prevented in a web browser, but they are prohibited without permission and may be enforced.

International transfers

Our servers or service providers may be located outside your country. Where we transfer personal data from the EEA or UK, we rely on appropriate safeguards (such as standard contractual clauses) where required by law.

Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The “Last updated” date below will change when we do. Continued use of the Site after changes means you accept the revised policy, except where your consent is required by law.
