About us

We’re a couple from Cyprus who got tired of scrolling through endless Facebook groups, Instagram reels, and YouTube travel vlogs just to figure out how much a trip would actually cost — and which operators were worth trusting. So we started writing it down: the real prices we paid, the people we actually used, and the things we’d do differently next time.

Our story

Vastrails started after we booked a €35 Ryanair flight from Paphos to Amman before we’d even looked at a map of Jordan. The weeks that followed were a deep dive into hotels, routes, tours, and price comparisons — and we kept hitting the same wall: lots of beautiful photos online, very few practical answers.

After enough trips, we realised the notes we were keeping for ourselves were exactly the kind of guides we’d been searching for. So we put them on the internet, kept the prices honest, and stopped recommending anything we hadn’t actually used.

How we help

Research

We research

We pull real prices, route timings, and on-the-ground details from sources we trust — and pay for things ourselves before recommending them.

Vet

We vet

We screen tour operators, transfers, and stays so you skip the dodgy listings and book the trip with confidence.

Share

We share

We publish clear guides with the numbers, the trade-offs, and the bits we’d do differently — so you can plan faster.

Why we research

Most travel content online is either too generic to be useful or too polished to be honest. We try to be the opposite: specific numbers, operators named, what worked and what didn’t, and the trade-offs we made between time, money, and effort.

We’re not a booking platform and we’re not a tour company. We’re travelers who do the research first and share it second, so the next person doesn’t have to start from zero.

Who we are

We’re based in Cyprus and travel mostly across Europe, the Middle East, and East Africa. Between trips we test cost calculators, compare operators, and update our guides with whatever has changed on the ground.

If a Vastrails guide saved you a few hours — or if you spotted something we got wrong — we’d love to hear from you.
